Overview

Singer Equipment Company, one of the largest food service and equipment distributors in the US, is seeking a Distribution Sales Representative in Training (DSR) to help penetrate their assigned market with a focus on commercial food service markets. The DSR will be responsible for promoting the company’s products, services and building relationships with new and existing customers. This position maintains and grows sales of equipment, janitorial, disposables, table top and small wares to restaurants, schools, country clubs, hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, motels and/or other properties that require kitchen equipment and supplies. The DSR will act as a member of the supply sales team, building positive working relationships with the entire Singer team and maintain Singer’s values to be the most responsive, knowledgeable and friendly supplier in the food service industry.  

Responsibilities

RESPONSIVE

  • Communicate Singer’s consultative sales approach to customers
  • Leverage and understand Singer Equipment processes
  • Prepare and communicate thorough, timely and compelling sales presentations and responses utilizing Singer software (AutoQuotes, Prelude)
  • Manage customer projects
  • Work with Accounts Receivable to ensure customers pay invoices within agreed upon terms

KNOWLEDGEABLE

  • Stay abreast of new products and how they might help new and existing customers within the assigned territory
  • Analyze customer data to ensure customer profitability (Excel)
  • Develop and meet sales plans
  • Prepare annual sales projections and periodic updates
  • Attend industry and company trade shows, conferences and sales meetings as required

FRIENDLY

    • Grow Singer’s business within the assigned territory by maintaining existing customer relationships and creating new ones
    • Solicit orders and assess the customers’ satisfaction with the company by traveling throughout the assigned territory and calling on regular and prospective customers
    • Work with integrity and respect to both internal and external customers
    • Work effectively and professionally with the entire Singer team

 

 

 

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

  • Two to five years sales experience with proven record of sales success and history of accomplishments preferred
  • Employees or former employees of country clubs, restaurants or catering facilities a plus
  • Candidates who are or were in the foodservice distribution business, restaurant managers, restaurant operations, sold restaurant equipment or supplies or managed the front of the house operations for a foodservice establishment all a plus
  • Stellar business ethics
  • Professional demeanor, vibrant personality and the ability to instill trust in prospects and customers
  • Goal-oriented and driven self-starter who can work independently or with a team
  • Capacity to convey ideas effectively and sell a variety of products; possess strong closing skills
  • Must maintain a valid driver license with a driving record that meets Company minimum standards for travel throughout assigned territory
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • College degree preferred
