The Senior Refrigeration Mechanic functions as a team lead and performs skilled work in the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of commercial refrigeration equipment. This position also supports the Refrigeration Service Manager in meeting project requirements, monitoring/engaging team performance, and training.


  • Installs, repairs, and performs pipefitting of commercial refrigeration equipment and hanger systems as indicated in construction environments (including but not limited to compressor racks, condensing units, walk-in units, refrigerated cases, and ice machines).
  • Evaluates construction and installation problems and determines the appropriate solutions.
  • Determines the materials and hardware needed to perform quality work; Ensures project deadlines are met.
  • Reviews work to ensure established quality and safety requirements are met; Makes recommendations to improve quality and productivity.
  • Prepares reports as directed by the Refrigeration Service Manager.
  • Complies with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices.
  • Supports the mentoring and training of Refrigeration Mechanics.
  • Unloads/hauls refrigeration and food service equipment.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Current Journeyman or Masters HVAC license from the State of Maryland is required.
  • EPA Refrigeration certification.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to read blue prints and schematic drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Good computer skills using basic office applications such as the internet and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and successfully complete a background check.
