  • Overview

    Ashland Equipment, a division of Singer, is seeking a creative, motivated, and technically proficient Senior Interior Designer. This position will manage all phases of our projects from schematic design through construction and project closeout.

     

    The Senior Interior Designer has the primary responsibility for assisting in the development and monitoring of project scopes, budgeting, scheduling, and planning. This position will also lead the design team in the development of design documents (drawings and specifications).

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Create interior design for commercial kitchens in industries such as Higher education, Business and Industry, Health Care, Restaurant and government segments.
    • Manage a team of junior designers to establish productive working relationships to include the ability to communicate, deal effectively and cooperatively with clients, team members, consultants, and government agencies.
    • Conduct change orders, RFI responses, and professional correspondence for self-managed projects.
    • Develop, monitor, and adjust project schedules.
    • Review scope of work and agreements with consultant in alignment with project objectives.
    • Write RFP’S and negotiate contracts and fees with clients and consultants as directed and supervised by the Principal in Charge; Write and edit specifications.
    • Collaborate with appropriate staff to meet goals and objectives of project.
    • Coach, mentor, and provide performance-enhancing feedback of assigned team members.
    • Be the primary source for monitoring employee performance on a daily basis and take appropriate action to report both positive and areas of improvement performance.
    • Supervise and manage team members for all phases of projects. Be proficient with all of Ashland’s documentation and office practice systems; provide impute on ways to improve communication processes and practices.

    Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

    Education: Bachelor’s degree Interior Design or related field from an accredited university.

     

    Experience: Minimum of 6 years experience in production and coordination of design documents in all phases of an Interior Design project; NCIDQ certification is preferred; on the path to attaining professional licensure is a plus.

     

    Software: AutoCAD, Revit production software, Microsoft Office Suite Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

     

    Specific Skills

     

    • Inventive, creative thinking, collaborative, and a readiness to learn quickly.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD is a must, Revit (BIM) systems is preferred.
    • Ability to effectively convey information and ideas.
    • Ability to direct team to create presentations in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
    • Familiarity with Sketch Up, 3D Max rendering programs is a plus.
    • Strong sketching and freehand drawings skills are a plus.
    • LEED accreditation is a plus.
    • Strong communication skills, team oriented, self-driven work ethic
    • Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet fast paced project demands.
