Human Resources Generalist

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the HR Generalist will provide operational and administrative support for the Human Resources department to ensure human resources functions are effectively executed across the Company and its subsidiaries. Primary responsibilities include benefit and leave of absence administration and new hire on-boarding. 

• Administer employee benefit programs, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life, accident & disability insurance, and voluntary plans for the organization.
• Reviews benefit coverages, determines which forms are necessary, and distributes required information or forms to employee.
• Assist with annual open enrollment, which could include setting up our HR systems, arranging virtual or on-site meetings, mailing or distributing material, assisting with presentations to communicate changes to employees and process benefit changes within specified deadlines.
• Administer life event enrollments and collect necessary documentation.
• Resolves employee benefit claims issues with insurance carriers.
• Develop and maintain business relationships with brokers, carriers, WC adjusters, benefit partners/vendors, territories and employees as it relates to wellness, leave and benefit programs.
• Audit and process monthly benefit invoices.
• Update and maintain benefit, leave of absence and new hire on-boarding materials.
• Conduct New Hire On-boarding including orientation, ADP new entry, benefit enrollment administration.
• Conduct pre-employment background screening and annual background screening for existing employees where required.
• Administers and tracks LOA for employees across multiple states, in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as Company policies and procedures.
• Assist HR Manager with the extended leave or interactive process with employees pertaining ot ADA accommodations related to leaves and returns from leave.
• Identifies and advises HR team of trends and problems, as well as recommended course of action; informs management of new procedures and ideas for continuous process improvement.
• Maintain highly confidential employee files and ensure HIPPA compliance.
• Produce reports from a variety of systems based on requests and the needs of the HR team and business.
• Provide exceptional customer service to our employees. A sense of urgency in follow-up and follow-through on issues brought to our attention.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the HR team to improve current processes, work on projects, and pro-actively share findings with the team.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• HR certification is a plus but not required
• Minimum 2 years work experience managing FMLA leaves of absence or 4 year Human Resources Degree required
• Advanced computer skills required. Strong aptitide for new systems, software, and workflow automation tools highly desired 
• Proficiency with Payroll / HRIS, Applicant Tracking and Benefits Systems are a plus but not required
• Interest and enthusiasm for ongoing learning of HR concepts
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment regarding sensitive employee issues and information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, flexible and able to adapt to changes quickly based on time sensitivity of tasks and priorities. 
• Willingness to positively take on tasks that lead to increased department optimization
• Willing to travel to various work-sites occasionally to conduct HR activities as needed
