Overview

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the buyers of the Purchasing Department.  

Responsibilities

  • Purchase order and vendor follow-up such as acknowledgements, backorders, shipping errors and discrepancies, damages, etc., liaising with the warehouse.
  • Learn and engage in buying tasks in order to provide back-up support to buyers.
  • Create necessary documents for buyers including documents for returning goods to vendors.
  • Assist buyers in communication with other departments such as Sales and Customer Service.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

  • High School diploma
  • 1-2 years of strong experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Excel required.
  • Strong data entry, communication, and organizational skills required.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Some experience with purchasing processes and inventory management preferred, but not required.
  • 1-2 years of experience with Prelude or a similar distribution company operating system a plus.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, team environment.
