Overview

The Estimator on a National Key Account team is responsible for coordinating reviews of plans, equipment/supplies/services, and scope of work to provide accurate estimates of project costs to customers.  The position requires communications with internal team members, clients, consultants, architects, and engineers regarding foodservice facility design projects. The Estimator must be self-motivated with high energy, and the ability to interact with numerous individuals, in multiple functions, within a dynamic and changing environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Receive and organize plan sets; to include setting up contact information, sales tax setup for site locations, warehouse determinations, and requesting further information and drawings as applicable (i.e. hood shop drawings and quotes).
  • Develop budgets to include specifications, scope of work and proposal requirements for project.
  • Register and assign projects to master list affecting work flow to bid to be awarded business; communicate internally with National Key Account for work flow status
  • Identify qualified subcontractors and vendors and obtain quotes required to complete the cost estimate
  • Analyze vendor promotions and recommend adjustments in strategy where possible to ensure maximum profitability and effectiveness; register for vendor specification credits, if and when ever applicable; learn to help educate team and customers about potential EnergyStar and other rebates that may be applicable in a specific jurisdiction.
  • Prepare multiple bid proposals simultaneously, reviewing design documents for accuracy and proposal compliance.
  • Review bid documents for consistency between documents, preparing an accurate scope of work for the bid, requesting clarification on bid requirements.
  • Review and scrub food service equipment plans, equipment cut sheets, custom fabrication drawings, mechanical and architectural plans for accuracy of information pertaining to items designed, sold or installed by Singer EVI; distribute clarifications and corrections as necessary according to project protocol.
  • Review quotes with internal team members at hand-off to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements and nuances learned during bid process
  • Communicate both internally and externally in areas such as estimating, procurement, project coordination, sales, customer, logistics, opening dates, timelines, etc. using
  • Attend job meetings as required
  • Communicate both internally and externally in areas affecting or affected by estimating activities  

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of project management and leadership experience. Construction or foodservice equipment experience is desired.   
  • 2 years’ experience in food service equipment design or construction related to food service preferred but not required
  • Ability to utilize computer-based programs necessary to complete assigned tasks, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel, and AutoQuotes 
  • Effective interpersonal skills to successfully work with others in the organization 
  • Attention to detail; highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized 
  • Exceptional work ethic with a focus on achieving goals and targets in a timely and complete manner 
  • Highly driven and self-motivated; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team 
  • Basic knowledge of general construction, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing preferred but not required
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturers cut sheets, drawings and construction drawings and communicate layout and design requirements to others; understanding of utility connections required to ensure manufacturer specifications met and plans accurately reflect
  • Strong relationship building skills with customers, architects, and engineers 
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner 
  • Possess integrity and ethical character 
  • Ability to think creatively, critically and solve problems 
  • Excellent customer service attitude

 

Work requires sitting for extended periods of time while operating a computer, standing, walking and moving throughout the office and telework environment; requires driving and valid driver’s license; talking; seeing (specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus); hearing; feeling; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; reaching; kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting.  In addition, job site visits may include walking or standing most of the time and requires frequent bending, stooping, and twisting (for example, taking field measurements). 

  

Typically works in an office and telework environment.  The core hours of this position are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. However, some evening and weekend hours may be required to meet business demands. Job site visits may require work to be performed on active construction sites where employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, loud noise, odors and other hazards commonly found on construction sites.
