Overview

Singer Equipment Co. is seeking an energetic and motivated individual who will bring immediate added value to our evolving Human Resources department. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing team and to develop skills for growth in the field of Human Resources. The HR Manager reports to the Vice President, Human Resources and is responsible for providing tactical and strategic HR support for designated business units across a multi-state region. This position anticipates, manages, and delivers value-added services that align with the company’s business objectives, values, and culture.  The HR Manager leads a variety of HR functional areas including recruitment, training and development, performance management, employee relations, policy development and interpretation, safety, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with leadership to align HR strategies with business strategies.
  • Assist employees and management with the interpretation of company policies to ensure fair and impartial implementation of policies and practices.
  • Partner with hiring managers to determine staffing needs; source and recruit candidates; screen and interview candidates; extend job offers; and lead the onboarding process.
  • Enforce company policies pertaining to employee conduct, harassment and discrimination prevention procedures. Conduct appropriate investigations and adequate corrective actions to resolve complaints.
  • Perform compensation planning and administration in accordance with company policies, procedures, and philosophy to ensure compliance and appropriate market position strategy execution.
  • Responsible for managing unemployment administration and separations.
  • Manage employee leaves of absences consistent with FMLA and ADA compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance in various areas including required postings by state and location.
  • Assist in the compilation of required data for Affirmative Action & EEO-1 reporting purposes and prepare and submit various reports.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Partner with management on Performance Management Program activities including annual performance appraisals, coaching, performance improvement plans, disciplinary action, and employment terminations.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Responsible for strengthening employee relations through soliciting feedback and responding to employee and management concerns.
  • Conducts leadership training to ensure managers and supervisors have necessary training to manage employees effectively consistent with company culture, established policies and procedures and legal compliance.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives and provide general support to HR as needed, other assigned duties as requested.
  • Draft and properly store HR records such as termination letters, compensation adjustment letters, employment agreements, unemployment claim information, employment verifications, and other relevant HR correspondence.
  • Maintain, update, and analyze various reports that are significant to key stakeholders with accuracy and attention to detail.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in an exempt level HR role. Multi-site HR experience is a plus. 
  • Effective communicator with employees at all levels of the organization. 
  • Analytical and experienced with data manipulation.
  • Strong functional knowledge of core HR disciplines, systems, and processes.
  • Knowledge of specialized regulatory areas (EEOC, ADA, FMLA, DOL etc.) to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and industry regulations.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, applicant tracking, and benefits administration systems. ADP and/or ICIMS experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in recruiting for labor, clerical and professional positions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands - This position is frequently required to sit, hear, use close and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. It also requires occasional standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and crawling. May occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.

 

Working Conditions - standard hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5 pm. May require evening or weekend hours as business needs demand.

 

Travel - Willing to travel up to 30% of the time to other offices in the region.
