Overview

HR Generalist, Employee Experience

Position Overview: The HR Generalist, Employee Experience is responsible for managing and addressing day-to-day employee relations issues, ensuring a positive, fair, and compliant work environment. This role involves working closely with employees, management, and the HR Business Partner to resolve workplace concerns, support conflict resolution, and ensure adherence to company policies and employment laws. This role will also work closely with Employee Engagement team members internal to HR and on Singer’s cultural team to support event planning and implementation.  The HR Specialist will act as a mediator and advisor, promoting a culture of open communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Employee Relations Support:
    • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues such as workplace conflicts, employee development, and disciplinary matters.
    • Provide guidance to employees and managers on handling sensitive situations in a fair and consistent manner.
    • Investigate employee complaints and workplace issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment regulations.
  2. Conflict Resolution:
    • Mediate conflicts between employees or between employees and management to facilitate productive working relationships.
    • Advise on and implement strategies to prevent conflicts and foster a positive workplace culture.
  3. Policy Interpretation and Compliance:
    • Ensure employees and managers understand and adhere to company policies, procedures, and employment laws.
    • Work with the HR Business Partner to update and maintain employee relations policies, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
    • Monitor legal developments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEOC).
  4. Performance Management:
    • Assist in the development and execution of performance management processes, including performance reviews, corrective action plans, development plans, and terminations.
    • Advise managers on addressing performance concerns and guide them through disciplinary actions when necessary.
  5. Employee Engagement and Retention:
    • Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends to provide recommendations for improving retention.
    • Work with the HR Business Partner to develop and implement employee engagement strategies to improve morale, reduce turnover, and enhance overall job satisfaction.
    • Assist with planning, developing, and implementing Singer cultural events and promote Singer’s values.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate documentation of employee relations issues, investigations, and outcomes.
    • Generate reports and analyze data related to employee relations cases to identify trends and recommend proactive solutions.
  7. Training and Development:
    • Partner with the HR Business Partner in developing and conducting training sessions for managers and employees on employee relations topics, such as conflict resolution, harassment prevention, and effective communication.
    • Work with the HR Business Partner to develop workshops or programs that enhance employee relations skills.
  1. Interviewing and Support for Hiring Managers
    • Conduct interviews focused on evaluating candidates’ behavior, skills, and experiences related to the job using competency-based or behavioral interviewing techniques.
    • Assess candidates’ alignment with the company’s values and culture, gauging their potential to thrive in the organization.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on employee relations.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
  • Skills:
    • Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive employee matters in a professional and empathetic manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with HR information systems (HRIS).
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience in employee engagement or retention initiatives.

 

Work Environment:

  • This role typically works in an office environment, with the need to travel to different company locations or facilities to meet with employees and managers.
