Overview

The Installer is responsible for ensuring the successful installation of commercial kitchen equipment and exceptional service delivery to our customers. While performing the duties of this role, the Installer must comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, policies, and established work practices. This position receives direction and close supervision from Project Management teams. The Installer must be self-motivated with high energy and the ability to interact with numerous individuals, in multiple functions, in a dynamic and changing environment. General hours are 6am to 5pm; Monday to Friday but may change from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Singer Kittredge in a professional manner that fosters positive relations with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and coworkers.
  • Safely deliver, uncrate, assemble, and install commercial kitchen equipment at customer sites, while ensuring functionality in accordance with product specifications. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, walk-in coolers, freezers, hoods, ice machines, ovens, and stainless-steel fabricated items such as sinks and worktables.
  • Follow manufactures instructions for assembly and installation of equipment.
  • Load and unload equipment and tools properly for equipment delivery and installation
  • Hang and secure shelving, racking, and other wall, and ceiling products.
  • Ensure all work documentation is fully and accurately completed. This may include, but not limited to, job progress, hours worked, punch lists and taking photos to document work.
  • Attend required safety trainings and obtain required certifications, such as OSHA.
  • Attend company, construction, and scheduling meetings, as required.
  • Review foodservice equipment plans and equipment specification sheets to include custom fabrication drawings, mechanical, and architectural drawings to identify potential installation issues.
  • Field measure for critical dimensions and transmit information, including sketches, as required.
  • Resolve project punch lists as required.
  • Direct subcontract installation crews as required
  • Consult with customers regarding solutions for customer issues where required.
  • Advise Project Manager of changes to the scope of work, which may or may not be considered for Change Order(s).
  • Ensure all project costs are tracked, included review and proper coding of receipts, credit card charges, etc. and reported to Finance Department in accordance with Singer Kittredge processes.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational school diploma/certificate in a mechanical-related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools.
  • Metal fabrication skills preferred, but not required. Metal work to include working with stainless-steel and other materials commonly used in foodservice equipment, including welding and polishing under field conditions.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving, communication, basic math, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
  • Must be team player with positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle checks.
  • Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and internet-based applications.
  • The work schedule requires employee to work varying hours- including early morning and overnight work from time to time. Some weekend work may be required during peak times.
  • Possess integrity and ethical character.
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills.

 

Work involves frequent handling of moderate to heavy components up to several hundred pounds utilizing non-mechanical and mechanical methods and may include walking or standing most of the time. Frequent bending, stooping, and twisting. Work may be performed in extreme hot and cold temperatures in both indoor and outdoor environments.

 

Job requires work to be performed on active construction sites where employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, loud noise, odors, vibrations and other hazards commonly found on construction sites. Job requires local and out of town travel, which may at times be frequent.

 

This position may require extensive travel while driving company vehicles. May periodically require overnight travel. Some travel may be required for training, seminars, etc.
